In recent months, we’ve all felt the pain of the ongoing pandemic slowing our supply chain and contributing to the high costs of goods.

That’s why I’ve been working with my counterparts in the U.S. House of Representatives and fellow Senators to pass the U.S. Innovation and Competition Act -- also known as the COMPETES Act -- to boost domestic manufacturing, increase productive capacity, and mitigate supply chain issues in America.

Put simply, the COMPETES Act will bring manufacturing back to the U.S. so we don’t depend on other supply chains, and it will clear some of the log jams that have led to increased wait times and rising inflation.

We all know that COVID has brought major shifts to the job market -- so expanding the kind of education we consider Pell Grant-eligible, like this legislation does, will allow workers to quickly equip themselves with employable skills and find a good-paying job, supporting a robust workforce here in the U.S.

As we emerge from the pandemic, investing in our labor force in this way will improve economic mobility and advance our national economy overall.

There’s more work to be done -- and I’m working with my Congressional counterparts to finalize this legislation so we can get it across the finish line, but we’re on the right track, and it would mean a lot to have your support.

So today I’m asking: Will you add your name to say you believe in these efforts to improve our economy, invest in U.S. manufacturing, improve our supply chain, and create jobs here at home by supporting the COMPETES Act?

This pandemic that tragically infected millions and killed hundreds of thousands of Americans has not only caused immense grief, it’s disrupted the way we work and live on a daily basis -- and we need to adapt.

This bill is an important step toward putting our country on the right track, and I’m confident we can get this done.
