John,
We are thrilled to announce our latest endorsement for U.S. Senate, Lucas Kunce of Missouri!
Lucas grew up in Missouri with working-class parents who went bankrupt paying medical bills for his sister’s heart condition, so he knows firsthand how difficult it is for families to survive when adversity strikes(as it does for most people, at some point).
Likewise, the perspective he gained serving our country as a U.S. Marine showed him that while we may have the greatest military in the world, we still have a long way to go when it comes to taking care of the folks at home.
Lucas is running on a populist platform that includes:
- Defending voting rights
- Breaking up corporate monopolies
- Abolishing corporate PACs (Lucas has pledged to accept NO corporate PAC money during his campaign)
-
Preventing elected officials and their families from using their positions to increase their fortunes through stock trades and lobbying gigs
- Making healthcare universal and affordable
- Reducing the price of prescription drugs and penalizing pharmaceutical companies for price gouging
- Strengthening labor and anti-discrimination laws
- Increasing the minimum wage to $15/hour
- Legalizing cannabis at the federal level and reassessing all non-violent marijuana convictions
- Confronting the opioid epidemic
He’s also proposed an innovative “Marshall Plan for the Midwest,” an economic stimulus and infrastructure-building proposal designed to bring rural and small-town America up to speed with the rest of the developed world.
Lucas, a 13-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, says his “Marshall Plan for the Midwest” was inspired by his two tours in Afghanistan and one tour in Iraq, where he saw the United States spending trillions of dollars on war and nation-building overseas while committing fewer and fewer dollars to improve people’s lives here at home.
His plan would invest federal funds into rebuilding and modernizing rural America while creating good-paying union jobs for the people who live there.
“We’ve been building things right here in Missouri for generations,” Lucas says. “My plan would put our carpenters, tradespeople, sheet metal workers, laborers, and engineers to work rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, expanding broadband coverage, and making our homes, businesses, and public buildings energy efficient. At the same time, we’d be investing in job training, local governments, and the factories of the future to create generations of sustainable jobs.”
We here at No Dem Left Behind are incredibly impressed by Lucas’s passion, drive and commitment to improving the lives of working people in his home state of Missouri and throughout America, and we believe his populist message will resonate with voters right, left and center who are sick of watching the 1% get richer and richer while they struggle to get ahead.
Will you help us support Lucas’s campaign with a $20.22 contribution to the No Dem Left Behind Senate Fund today?
