Dear Friend,

At Adhikaar we embrace a holistic approach that flows from direct services to organizing and advocacy to build the power and leadership of our community members to advance workers' rights, immigration justice, healthcare access, and language justice. Central to this work is our efforts to organize our domestic worker members to create fair and just workplaces.

Domestic work is one of the most important and fastest-growing jobs in the country, yet it is one of the most unprotected and vulnerable careers that excludes equality to workers. Our Domestic Worker members share stories of being discriminated against at work, being overworked without breaks, and being paid below the minimum wage. Our members also raise issues on poor health and safety at work, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To address these challenges, we provide our coveted “We Rise” nanny training and “Know Your Rights” session to our members to help them become aware of their rights and address their injustice through advocacy and case support. Our hope is that through this collaboration our members create more dignified working conditions for themselves and their community.

This is only a highlight of our transformative work advancing the rights of domestic workers, including trafficking survivors. To learn more check out our recent newsletter and consider a donation to support our work. Your donation helps Adhikaar meet the challenges of today and work to build a system that works for all of us.

In solidarity,

Pabitra Khati Benjamin,

Executive Director, Adhikaar
