Friend, in America, democracy is
being tested at the ballot box.
In Ukraine, it may soon be tested
on the battlefield.
We in The Lincoln Project stand
with the freedom loving people of Ukraine who desire nothing more than
to control their own future. Led by Donald Trump's humiliating embrace
of Vladimir Putin, the autocratic movement in America threatens
America's role in the world as a beacon of freedom and
democracy.
Why did the Russians do so much to
help Donald Trump? Because they know he has unleashed an
anti-democratic force in America that shares common cause with the
gangster oligarchs of Putin's Russia. Yes, they have “elections” in
Russia but the outcome is never in doubt, where it's who counts the
votes that matters, not the voters. Which is exactly what Donald Trump
and 147 Republicans tried to do on January 6th.
Each of you with The Lincoln
Project helped elect President Biden and keep democracy alive in
America. We can look with pride as an American president, a good and
decent man, stands shoulder to shoulder with the Ukrainian people
defending their right of self-determination. This is the America we
love.
In the days ahead, let us stand
united behind our President and recommit ourselves to the defense of
democracy. In the words of Abraham Lincoln:
'At what point then is the approach
of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reaches us, it must
spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be
our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher."

Today we’re launching a new ad
campaign to define this contrast. Our ads have always been an integral
part of what we do at The Lincoln Project. We helped swing the 2020
election because enough good and decent Americans saw Trump for who he
was. Now, it’s just as important to head off the right-wing outrage
machine – they will surely blame President Biden for whatever happens
– and we all know Fox News is already corrupted by the
Russians.
Our campaign is targeting those
Americans who take pride in decency and democracy. They need to see
this ad. You can help us with that. Please share this email – why we
made this ad and what we are trying to do with it – with one person
you think needs to see how we’re framing this critical issue. And yes,
if you can, please help us reach a broader audience by contributing
today.
Thank you for making The Lincoln
Project what it is. We need you to keep us in this fight for
democracy.
