Dear John -
Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are staying warm and enjoying the winter Olympics as much as I am!

I wanted to pass along a quick update about our progress on not one, not two, but three bills that have passed the Michigan House this year.

✅ Our first-time homebuyers savings account bill has been signed by the Governor! House Bill 4290 is now Public Act 5 of 2022. This law will make it easier for first-time homebuyers to save by creating incentives to save.

✅ Our distracted driving bill - House Bill 4277 - passed the House and is pending before the Senate. This bill would make driving safer by prohibiting use of your cell phone for things like watching Netflix or broadcasting Zoom while driving.

✅ The most recent bill of ours to pass the House - House Bill 4658 - would raise the current fixed sales price limit on MSHDA Homeownership loans to a formula of 90% of the average area purchase price of a particular housing unit. It would also increase the amount homebuyers can get from a MSHDA loan for unexpected cost increases during construction or for improvements to a property for disabled individuals’ accessibility from $3,500 to $10,000.

Thank you for your continued support! We have a lot to celebrate together.

If I can ever be of assistance to you or your family, please let me know.
