Welcome to our weekly newsletter about mental health services and support available in Barnet and beyond. Also bringing you updates on Inclusion Barnet mental health news. Produced by Ed Peston, Communications Assistant.

Inclusion Barnet Events and News User Voice

We have hit pause on sharing the very impactful video produced to showcase people’s experiences of mental health services until we have given Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust the right to reply in light of the transformation work they are doing at present. We’re looking forward to publishing this soon, with huge thanks to everyone who contributed.

The User Voice team are now offering FREE disability awareness training to local voluntary sector organisations and community groups. If you know of someone who might be interested, please get in touch with Eve at [[email protected]] or on 07719 105 107.

Barnet Mental Health services want to hear what you have to say about Adult Mental Health services. We are setting up a regular forum and need you to get involved to feedback your experiences and share your ideas. The forum encourages and promotes service users and carers working alongside staff to coproduce services.

A Look At Mental Health in the Black Community, Wednesday 16 February, 4.00 - 4.50pm

Panelists Robert Bailey, a mental health clinician, and Regina Renaye, founder of Mindful + Melanated, will lead a discussion on mental health issues in the black community. Robert Bailey will offer a clinician’s thoughts on the barriers to access of care that Black males may face and what they can do to overcome such barriers. Regina Renaye will share the obstacles she faced as a patient seeking a mental health provider and how her search was the catalyst for creating her organization Mindful + Melanated which offers peer support and access to culturally competent mental wellness resources, providers, and programs.

Eating Disorders are a group of serious mental health issues that can impact not just the mind, but your health and ability to function, too. Mind & Mood Support Group has returned to face to face meetings at 55 Christchurch Avenue, London N12 0DG. To enquire about becoming a new member, please contact either Peter or Sandra below.

Both Peter Sartori and Sandra Turner have extensive experience of the mental health system.

We are an independent support group, run by ex service users, for service users, their carers and supporters.

We are a Peer-Led Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisation (DDPO).

Nearly all of our directors and staff have lived experience of disability, including mental health issues and/or long-term health conditions.

We believe that learning to use our lived experience for social change is a skill. We have become experts in harnessing the lived experience of our staff, members, volunteers and the people who use our services to design and deliver higher quality, more person-centred services.
