John,
Just five days after members of a synagogue were taken hostage in Colleyville, Texas, Lauren Boebert was heard asking a group of Jewish visitors to the U.S. Capitol if they were on a "reconnaissance mission."
The Rabbi leading the group couldn't believe what he heard, but to us, it's not surprising. The truth is, Donald Trump and the Treason Caucus have a long history of antisemitism to their names. Here are just a few comments that have made headlines in the past few years:
- Trump suggested in a 2016 campaign ad that Jewish people were robbing the American working class.
- Marjorie Taylor Greene has compared her refusal to get a vaccine with the horrific genocide that happened during the Holocaust and has also perpetrated a conspiracy of Jewish space lasers.
- On the anniversary of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, Ted Cruz proudly defended the right to do a Nazi salute.
We'll be clear, antisemitism will never have a place in our country, and the very idea of it is un-American. Boebert defended herself by saying that she was joking and refused to issue an apology for her comments. We believe that antisemitism is inexcusable, and the Jewish community deserves an apology. Now, we need to know what you think:
Thanks,
