RE: Huge week for David Perdue

It has become very clear that Brian Kemp has a math problem in the Georgia Republican Primary. He can’t beat Perdue head-to-head.

This week has been huge for David Perdue in his campaign to become the next Governor of Georgia. First, he took aim at Stacey Abrams over her hypocrisy on school masking and released the first ad on it. Then, Vernon Jones dropped out of the race for Governor and strongly endorsed Perdue. And finally, Brian Kemp’s corrupt leadership committee that allowed only him to get around contribution limits and raise unlimited money for himself was halted by a judge.

All three of those are huge, but specifically, Vernon Jones getting out of the Governor’s race and endorsing Perdue is a major shakeup in this election and further magnifies the math problem for Brian Kemp in this primary. In three recent public polls, Brian Kemp was at 41%, 42%, and 43% on the initial ballots. This appears to be Governor Kemp’s consistent ceiling. Jones was pulling 10%, 10%, and 11%. Roughly 85% of Jones voters surveyed move automatically to Perdue in a head to head ballot, without being informed of Trump’s endorsement. Previous Jones supporters are very much anti-Kemp voters. With a united conservative base backing Perdue, Kemp’s path has narrowed significantly. It’s a nightmare scenario for Governor Kemp.

Over the next 103 days, our job is very simple. We will be outspent, but we can’t be out worked. We have to continue to remind Republican primary voters that David Perdue is a bold conservative with a plan to move Georgia forward, and he is the only candidate in this race who is endorsed by President Trump. Perdue is spending every week on the road, meeting directly with voters, and building a strong grassroots network. Just last week, Perdue made 16 campaign stops across Georgia, from Dalton, to Albany, to Brunswick, and everywhere in between. No candidate will outwork David Perdue.

We are burning in the Trump message currently on TV, and will continue to do that for the next few weeks. Governor Kemp has already spent nearly $2mm attacking Perdue. That will continue. His attacks haven’t moved the needle. According to the most recent public poll, Perdue’s unfavorable rating with Republicans was just 7%, while Governor Kemp’s was 3X higher.

Conservatives are uniting behind David Perdue. He’s the only candidate with the message, the momentum, and the grassroots network to win in May and defeat Stacey Abrams in November. This primary race has quickly moved in Perdue’s direction. Judging by the number of longtime Kemp supporters and capitol “insiders” who have reached out to the Perdue team in the last 48 hours, they know this is the case too.

On to victory,
AC
