Dear John,

On Monday, January 13, 2020 – the day before the 2020 legislative session – educators and parents are descending upon the State Capitol [link removed] to rally for Florida’s students.

Everyone is talking about the Florida teacher shortage.  But actions speak louder than words. Help us show state legislators that it is time for them to give Florida’s students the world-class education they all deserve - from PreK through graduate school.

Join us on January 13 in Tallahassee. [link removed]

This year we estimated at least 300,000 students were in classrooms without a full-time qualified teacher at the beginning of the school year.  School districts have told the legislature that the number of teacher vacancies has only grown since then.

Across our state the growing teacher and education staff professional shortage is hurting Florida’s students. But the teacher shortage is just part of the problem Florida’s students face each day:

Schools are not getting the funding they need to fix leaking roofs, air conditioners, or buy reliable buses.
Florida’s class sizes are growing.
Students are spending too much time taking high-stakes tests.
And parents are worried about their children’s safety.

Florida’s students and families deserve better.

Its time politicians started listening to the people.  It’s time for us to make our voices heard. Let’s take on the Tallahassee politicians on January 13.

Find out how you can be part of the public education movement [link removed]. Together we can build a better future for Florida’s children.

In Solidarity,
Fedrick C. Ingram
