The bombs fall at night, without warning.

Dear John

The bombs fall at night, without warning.

The Burmese military bomb homes, schools, churches and hospitals.

This weekend there were more airstrikes in Karen State and Kachin State, killing three and injuring many more.

In the past year, dozens of people have been killed by airstrikes. The majority of the 400,000 people who have been forced to flee their homes since the military coup last year have fled because of airstrikes or the threat of airstrikes. It causes immense suffering and a humanitarian crisis as families hide in the jungle without proper shelter and food.

Most of these airstrikes, using jets and helicopters, are happening in ethnic states, and local communities are calling for international action. They want sanctions to stop the supply of aviation fuel to the military.

If the jets can’t fly, they can’t bomb.

“Sanctions on aviation fuel are one of the most key and crucial things the international community can do.”
Human rights activist from Karenni state.

Email British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss MP today, calling on her to impose sanctions to help cut the supply of aviation fuel to the Burmese military. ([link removed])

Burning home in Karen State this weekend.
Once sanctions were lifted in 2012, the Burmese military went on a spending spree around the world, rearming with modern equipment. Now civilians are paying the price.

We can’t take away the new jets and helicopters, but if we can stop the supply of aviation fuel, we can stop the military from using them.

Burma doesn’t manufacture aviation fuel. It depends on imports. Help us stop the supply of aviation fuel and stop the bombing now.
