Having grown up in DC in the 1990s, I know what it means to not feel safe in our city and like so many of you, I am feeling like we are moving back to the time when our city was known as the “murder capital.” We cannot accept the status quo and it is clear our current approach to public safety isn’t working. 

DC residents are calling for a real plan to make our city safe. After consulting with some of the foremost experts on public safety, I have developed a plan to (1) invest in proven crime prevention strategies (2) respond more effectively to crime and (3) help communities recover from the impacts of crime. I am incredibly proud of this plan. You can read it in full here.
