I’m a proud, hard-working Wisconsinite who knows what it means to go the extra mile.

Hi John, my name is Jessica Katzenmeyer. Three years ago, I lost my home in a fire and was hospitalized for several days. If I didn’t have health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), it would have cost me over $80,000 to save my life. When I learned Republicans were attempting to gut the ACA, I decided to get involved and run for office for the first time in my life.

In my campaign for State Assembly, I was the closest to defeating Rep. Joe Sanfelippo than any other Democrat since he first took office in an extremely Republican-leaning district. The people of Wisconsin are getting sick of poor Republican leadership and want change. So, I have decided to run to represent Wisconsin’s 5th Congressional District to make that change a reality.

The road will certainly be tought and we’ll be taking on powerful special interest groups, large corporate donors, misinformation, and blatant conspiracy theories. But together, I KNOW we can defeat them and have a government that truly has the interests of the people at heart. That’s why I’m running for Congress to defeat Republican Scott Fitzgerald and maintain Democratic control in the House. If you have a few moments, I hope you will allow me to share a little about myself and then, sign on to support our campaign for Congress, John.

A little bit about myself…

I’m a proud, hard-working Wisconsinite who knows what it means to go the extra mile. For over 12 years, I was an active member of Teamsters Union Local 344, where I fought and advocated for my fellow workers’ rights and safety.

I am proud and out transgender woman and the first transgender candidate for Congress in the history of Wisconsin. I’ve advocated for LGBTQ+ rights at both the local and statewide levels because I believe no one should be ashamed of being who they are or for choosing who they love.

Here is what I’m running on…

  • Expand the ACA to protect the millions with pre-existing conditions
  • Empower Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices to lower medication costs
  • Take climate change head on by pushing for net-zero emissions by 2050
  • Invest in clean energy initiatives
  • Expand broadband access across the country
  • Expand collective bargaining rights for workers
  • Establish a $15/hr minimum wage
  • Invest in universal pre-k
  • Support safer communities with proactive gun and policing legislation
  • Legalize cannabis for medicinal and recreational use

That’s just a snapshot of what I want to do in Congress. You can find my entire vision to better this state and country HERE.

Look, the road to progress won’t be easy, but I promise to fight like hell to get us there. At the end of the day, it’s up to us to make the world a better place.

Let’s make it happen.

Sincerely,

Jessica
