Our movement just won a BIG, big victory,
   John.
Last week, a court invalidated Biden’s 80-million-acre lease sale for oil
drilling permits in the Gulf of Mexico – ruling that his administration
must consider the climate impacts of oil drilling.^1
This would have been the single largest sale of fossil fuel permits on
public lands in US history – and now it’s nullified because of its impact
   on the climate.
This win is a testament to all of our hard work as a movement, especially
frontline, Indigenous, Black, communities of color, grassroots fossil fuel
fighters in the Gulf and beyond leading the way – and you,
   John.
But our fight isn’t over yet. We need to keep the pressure on Biden and
the Department of the Interior to accept the judge’s ruling, not appeal,
and stop new leasing on public lands for good.
Here’s how you can take action:
   1. [ [link removed] ]Tweet at President Biden (@POTUS) and Secretary of the Interior Deb
Haaland (@SecHaaland) calling on them to #StopTheSale.

Secretary Deb Haaland accept the ruling and not appeal the decision. We’ve
included a script for you to follow, but you can also share a message in
                                your own words.

On the world stage at the UN climate summit, COP 26, the Biden
Administration talked about getting to net-zero emissions. Then just days
after, his Administration auctioned off swaths of ocean twice the size of
Florida to oil and gas companies for as low as $25 per acre.
It’s up to us to hold the Biden administration accountable to its climate
promises and demand that Biden take every action in his power to keep
   fossil fuels in the ground.
While the judge’s ruling is a huge step in the right direction, it doesn’t
guarantee that this sale won’t happen.
   John, we need
the Biden Administration and the Department of the Interior to hear our
demands loud and clear. Call or tweet (or both!) the White House and
Secretary Deb Haaland to demand they abide by the court’s decision and
   cancel the sale.

Let’s give President Biden and Secretary Haaland a resounding call to
   action.
