John,
Today is the first day of Black History Month. Every February we are reminded to amplify the voices of Black Americans leading the fight for justice.
This year marks the ten year anniversary of of the murder of Trayvon Martin. He would have been twenty-seven years old. His death helped spark a cultural revolution which brought together people all over the world who believe that justice has not yet been served to Black Americans killed at the hands of police officers.
Ten years later, there is still so much work to do.
When we elect and empower Black leaders who are driving the movement, we shift power where it belongs—back to the people—and craft policies that are community-driven.
So this month, we encourage folks to commit to supporting a candidate or organization that lifts up Black leaders. Small dollar, recurring online donations help create sustainable funding streams for campaigns In that spirit, we invite you to please make a $5 recurring contribution to support the Ohio Young Black Democrats today.
With gratitude
