Precinct caucuses are February 1, 2022

Get ready to caucus

Hey, John —

Precinct caucuses are Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Here’s what you need to know:

✅ Precinct caucuses kick off the process political parties use to decide which candidates and issues to support.

✅ Precinct caucuses are the place you can run to be a delegate at endorsing conventions for candidates.

💙 Ready to elect progressive candidates this year? Make your plan to caucus.

💻 Find out how your precinct is conducting its caucus with the DFL’s caucus finder tool. Your caucus might be “contactless” or in person.

📄 If your caucus is “contactless,” (or if your caucus is in-person, but you’d prefer not to participate physically) follow the directions specified by your precinct to submit a non-attendee form by February 1.

The non-attendee form allows you to

  • Nominate yourself to make your voice heard at a local party convention as a precinct officer, delegate, or alternate;

  • Show support for a specific candidate for office; and/or

  • Submit a resolution to get an issue considered for the DFL party agenda or party platform.

🤓 For a nerd-out moment, see the full caucus and convention process as a flow chart on page 33 of this document.

Something to celebrate: For the first time ever in Minnesota, people who are undocumented and people with felony convictions whose voting rights haven’t yet been restored can participate in the DFL caucus process.

I (Robert) live in Minneapolis. I’m participating in my precinct caucus this year because the Hennepin County Attorney’s race is a critical open seat, and I want to make sure a real progressive gets the endorsement.

With a wave of legislative retirements, many residents are caucusing to help decide who will represent them next. (Check here: Is your state legislator retiring?

Why are YOU caucusing this year? Reply to this email and let us know. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out with your caucus questions.
