Five years ago today, Donald Trump, with the support of members of the Treason Caucus, signed an executive order that banned Muslims from entering the United States for 90 days and suspended the entry of all Syrian refugees immediately.
When the Statue of Liberty was erected to welcome all those passing through Ellis Island and onto the promises of America, a poignant message was embedded into the bronze of the lower pedestal:
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,”
By enacting the Muslim travel ban, Trump trashed one of the core ideals of the American dream. It's time to fight back against the elected officials who backed him.
