Hey there,
College student voter participation doubled to 40% in the historic 2018 midterms, helping to facilitate the massive blue wave that retook the House -- and Republicans took notice.
In Texas, the state legislature passed a law that shuttered early polling stations at campuses across the state, early polling stations where tens of thousands of ballots have been cast in past elections. In Florida, Republicans are trying to overturn a voter-approved ballot measure giving ex-felons the right to vote. The GOP knows that it doesn't have any good ideas to convince people to vote for Republican candidates, so instead they have to keep people from voting in the first place -- these efforts are voter suppression, pure and simple.
If we're going to have a fair chance at taking back the Senate and the White House, everyone who is eligible to vote needs the chance to -- and the GOP must be stopped from cheating. When Democrats Turn Out is committed to ensuring that everyone can vote, but we need to hear from you on this critical issue:
Should Democrats fight GOP voter suppression?
