Since 2011, I’ve worked to develop and pass a landmark water rights bill, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Water Compact. I was one of the lead negotiators and worked to pass it in the 2015 Montana State legislature with broad support. 

The Compact needs to be ratified by Congress in order to protect water rights holders across half of Montana from having to lawyer up for court battles. And who needs to introduce it in the U.S. House? Our lone voice there - Greg Gianforte. It has to happen in 2019, or the deal may fail.

He’s had 3 years to do it, and it still hasn’t happened.

This is EXACTLY the kind of inaction that hurts all Montanans while enriching the most powerful. We know of Gianforte’s anti-public lands agenda and now he’s not protecting Montana’s water users. I will always put Montana first. Help me replace Gianforte with the leader we need by chipping in $10 right now.

With support from water resource experts, stockgrowers and the Montana Farm Bureau, there’s no good reason why this bill hasn’t moved. The only reason is Gianforte’s focus on his own political ambitions. It’s that simple.
