   John,
It did not come as a surprise to anyone when Trump nominated Rex
Tillerson, the former CEO of Exxon Mobil, to serve as Secretary of State.
But we were surprised to learn that President Biden nominated a former oil
and gas executive to oversee energy security at the State Department.
Amos Hochstein, who was the Senior Vice President of Marketing at the
natural gas company Tellurian, has repeatedly touted the lie that natural
gas is part of a “cleaner energy future.” Now, Hochstein has a major role
over U.S. energy security policy where experts say he will surely try to
commit the U.S. to pursuing even more foreign oil and gas.^1
This is yet another example why fossil fuel executives shouldn't be in
charge of energy policy. [ [link removed] ]If you agree, will you add your name to our
petition to keep fossil fuel puppets out of the White House?

   Here’s the thing,
   John. If President Biden wants
voters to take his so-called “commitment” to climate action seriously – he
doesn’t get to pick and choose when to consider the future of the planet
and when to ignore it. We’re simply out of time for half measures.
Every appointment, from Federal Reserve Chair to State Department Energy
Envoy, must be filled by visionary leaders who aren’t in the pocket of
   fossil fuels or Big Banks.

executives don’t belong in the White House and shouldn't be in charge of
   energy policy.
   Thank you for speaking out.
   Team 350
