And dozens of state legislatures are up for grabs next year.

It's a dream scenario for the right-wing Republicans who have already held mock conventions in preparation.

Why have well-funded conservative groups called for a constitutional convention?

Because they could make any changes they want to our constitution and roll back the progress we've made as a nation since 1787, when the last constitutional convention was held.

They could ban abortion and outlaw some forms of birth control by establishing a "personhood" amendment. They could repeal the 14th Amendment, which grants citizenship to those born in the U.S. They could open the door to even more discrimination against LGBTQ Americans.

We need to take back more state legislatures with pro-choice Democratic women, like we did in Virginia last Tuesday, and put this dangerous Republican goal far, far out of reach.
