Friend,

Today the U.S. Senate will vote on federal voting rights legislation, responding to the onslaught of Republican voter suppression bills in states like Texas.

This is a critical moment for our democracy – and it can’t come any sooner. Texans are already feeling the effects of SB1, the Republican voter suppression law signed last year. We’ll explain how in just a second.

Ground Game Texas is working overtime to register thousands of new voters and putting popular initiatives—such as marijuana decriminalization and police reform—on the ballot to drive turnout and enact progressive change. Help us fight back against voter suppression—chip in $25 to support our organizing efforts across Texas. [[link removed]]

Friend, in county after county across Texas, thousands of absentee ballot requests are being rejected under the new law. The law intended to make the process as complex as possible by adding new identification requirements, leaving county registrars no choice but to reject the ballots.

On top of that, the Secretary of State in Texas is limiting the number of voter registration forms it’s giving out to groups like Ground Game Texas, citing supply chain issues and the price of paper. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to limit the number of new voters we can register before the upcoming elections.

This is exactly what Republicans intended when they passed SB1, to make our election laws more complex so that fewer voters can participate in the process. And it disproportionately hurts the elderly, folks with disabilities, student voters, and military service members who rely on our voter registration and absentee systems.

Ground Game Texas is going to do everything we can to fight back voter suppression. We’re hitting the doors every day to register new voters and mobilize them behind popular progressive policies in their communities. But we need your help. Can you pitch in $25 to help us fight back against voter suppression in Texas? [[link removed]]

This is a make or break moment for our democracy, and it’s going to take all of us to fight back.

Thanks again for your continued support,

Ground Game Texas
