I am adding my name of support to MLK’s family - and urge the Senate to pass the Freedom to Vote Act.
I support this bill because it:
- protects and strengthens the voting rights for groups presently disenfranchised
- bans partisan gerrymandering;
- would make Election Day a legal public holiday;
- would set a national standard for early voting, mail-in voting, and voter registration.
Please honor the legacy of MLK by passing this important voting rights legislation.

Today, MLK’s family and other activists will march across the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in Washington, DC to draw a comparison to the 1965 march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, for voting rights for Black Americans.
