In 1957, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered a speech imploring the President and Members of Congress to protect voting rights for ALL Americans. Over half a century later, we are still fighting that same fight.
Last week, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that the Senate will, once again, delay the vote on election reform legislation until tomorrow... We hope that this is the last time the deadline is pushed back. There is a vanishingly small window for action and, unfortunately, there are still members who are holding onto the filibuster rule — leaving millions of Americans without an easy and accessible way to vote.
For Dr. King, Congressman John Lewis, and so many others who came before us, our voting rights have always been at risk. We must continue to defend our fundamental right to vote. The time to act is now.
Let's honor Dr. King's legacy and get voting rights secured on the federal level. Can you add your name to our petition demanding the Senate pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and Freedom to Vote Act?
Thanks,
— Every. Single. Vote.
