Friend, climate change is an urgent crisis that demands immediate, bold action. So it was especially disheartening to see Donald Trump on Monday officially begin the process for America's withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement.

The Trump Administration has already damaged our reputation with allies around the world; signaling to allies around the world that we aren't serious about addressing climate change only further damages that reputation. In 2020, we need to send a message at the ballot box that Americans want environmental justice -- and we do that by electing champions for a Green New Deal.

I've been very clear in my support for a Green New Deal. I've proudly taken the No Fossil Fuels Money pledge and sworn off PAC money so that I can advocate for you, not corporate lobbyists or the fossil fuel industry.

Special interests are working overtime to re-elect Roger Williams and stop the movement to restore American leadership. If you believe that it's time for bold environmental action, please make a grassroots donation to my campaign.

Drought, flooding, and sea rise have adversely hurt lower-income communities throughout Texas -- and for them, we need to aggressively invest in new infrastructure and technology to achieve sustainability and safety. The Green New Deal provides a policy framework for concrete actions we can take to mitigate the damage done and build a better future -- and Texas is uniquely positioned to lead the way.

We have the potential to produce more electricity from wind power than any other state. We could begin to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels today. But the status quo persists, because too many politicians like Roger Williams vote to prop up the fossil fuel industry at the expense of the environmental and economic well-being of our state -- and of our country.

Our current path is unsustainable and unjust. An economy that was already overtly skewed to favor those at the top is seeing even greater income inequality. And for so many Americans, their lives and livelihoods rely upon clean air and water, healthy farms and ranches, and the ability to sustain the worst effects of climate change.

Time is running out. The existential crisis of climate change demands urgent, equity-oriented action, at scale. And I’m proud that our campaign reflects the values of those demanding action -- not the values of the corporate lobbyists blocking the way. I’m ready to demand immediate climate action in Congress, but I need your help getting there.

So please stand with me and chip in today!
