Y'all, we want to take this moment to share five things you need to know about Luke Mixon.

1️⃣ He’s a lifelong Louisianan. Luke was born in Louisiana and grew up in a farming family outside of Bunkie, LA, where he was taught the value of hard work and resiliency.

2️⃣ He’s a proud father. A father of two, Luke understands that parents need access to affordable child care options so that they can drop their kids off somewhere safe and reliable when they go to work without breaking the bank.

3️⃣ He’s a veteran fighter pilot. Luke completed four deployments from aircraft carriers in support of missions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, where he earned three Air Medals. His service was completed in the Navy Reserves, he served as the Commanding Officer of VFA-204, the Navy’s F/A-18 squadron based in New Orleans. Luke looks forward to continuing to serve his country in 2023 in the Senate.

4️⃣ He’s a TOPGUN graduate. Luke completed a lifelong dream when he graduated from the Navy’s prestigious Navy Fighter Weapons School, better known as TOPGUN. And in 2012, he was recognized as the Navy’s F/A-18 Attack Aviator of the Year. He’s no stranger to a tough challenge, and he’s a leader the American people can count on.

5️⃣ He’s a responsible leader. The mission of the Naval Academy is to develop midshipmen morally, mentally, and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor, and loyalty. Luke’s experiences from growing up in central Louisiana, to the Naval Academy, to flying missions in the Middle East have instilled in him those ideals of duty, honor, and loyalty. And now, more than ever, that’s exactly what we need. Louisiana needs a responsible leader.
