ICYMI: Yesterday the Ohio Supreme Court struck down the GOP-drawn district maps that created gerrymandering throughout the state.

But the decision was close.

In just a 4-3 decision, these maps go back to the drawing board and give us more time to stop unconstitutional gerrymandering for Ohioans. Although this is a good thing, the closeness of this decision proves that Democrats are hanging on by a string.

This map would have given Republicans a 62-37 advantage in the House and 23-10 in the Senate.

It’s imperative that we go out and win local, state, and national elections this year to stop voting injustice. With a supreme court being so close, it came down to a swing vote by a moderate republican, Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor.

She mentioned her opinion in a concurring thought that the Ohio Redistricting Committee cannot put aside their partisan concerns. This committee is made up of statewide elected officials. We have the power to end this!

There is a real chance we can flip Ohio and we are already making progress. Our PAC helped elect Shenise Turner-Sloss in Dayton in November and she is ready to tackle these huge issues her state is facing.
