President Biden just laid out the reason the Lincoln Project is essential. 

When he boldly declares, "I will stand in this breach. I will defend this nation, and I'll allow no one to place a dagger at the throat of democracy,” he voices the commitment the Lincoln Project has made to itself, and to the country. We are an organization of fighters gathered to defend democracy, hold the Republican Party accountable and save the American experiment.

We are not an organization that believes the Republican Party can be saved. There are some who are fighting that fight, we believe that is a fantasy. We don’t want to reason with, compromise with, listen to those who don’t believe America is a democracy with a legally elected president. As President Biden so clearly stated, "The way forward is to recognize the truth – to live by it."

Here's our truth: They are wrong. We are right. There are more of us.  The only solution is to crush them *in the culture war* and at the ballot box. We must win this battle, not negotiate.  

You cannot meet half-way a movement that embraces the degradation of our Capitol by a domestic terrorist in a Camp Auschwitz sweatshirt. 

You cannot reason with those who are trying to end democracy in America. 

There is no middle ground between democracy and tyranny. There is no middle ground between those who seek power by disenfranchising Americans of color to maintain their vision of a white America. 

We are fighters, not negotiators. The Lincoln Project stands with President Biden in this, the fight of our lifetime. We are the voice of millions who recognize this threat and will not be silenced. 

There are no special interests supporting the Lincoln Project. We have no corporate donors. We have no influence to peddle. We are a true citizen’s organization and without your support, we cannot fight. The autocrats of the Republican party disdain the Democratic Party but they fear the Lincoln Project. And they are right to do so: we know how to defeat this evil in our time. We understand their weaknesses. We understand how to destabilize and confuse their ranks. We know how to win. 

This fight is just beginning. There will be good days and bad days but we cannot be overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task. We are not in this fight because we believe it will be easy to win or that victory is certain. We are in this fight because we must fight or lose our country. 

We choose to fight. 

Every day, every hour. They are coming for our democracy and we will not flinch. 

You make this possible. The deepest hope of the autocrats is that the Lincoln Project will falter and our fighting spirit will fade. They are wrong. We are right.

Thank you for all that you have done in this moment. In years to come when it is asked who was silent and who chose to stand up for America, you and yours will know that you were with those who ran to the sounds of the gun for freedom. We are in this together. It is our country. We will not lose it.
