Right now in the United States, we have working people holding down two or three jobs just to keep a roof over their heads and provide for their families. That’s because the federal minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 — since 2009.

Americans are working harder than ever before, but they have less to show for it.

I believe in the dignity of work, but I also believe in the dignity of a fair wage for an honest day’s work.

We must create an economy that serves everyone, not just those at the top — that means we need to create more jobs that pay a living wage.
