   John -
In November, President Biden announced that he is renominating Jerome
Powell to lead the Federal Reserve, missing a big opportunity to nominate
a chair with a commitment to ending fossil fuel finance.
While President Biden failed this important test on climate, it’s not a
guarantee that Powell will serve another term. That’s where you come
   in, John.
Jerome Powell still must be confirmed by the Senate, where he’s already
lost three Democratic votes. Powell’s first big test is tomorrow where he
will go before the Senate Banking Committee.

asking if you can send a message urging him to ask hard
climate questions at the hearing tomorrow and vote NO on Powell’s
   confirmation.

Here is a list of sample questions we want asked at the hearing tomorrow:
     * Does the Federal Reserve intend to take climate risks into account in
       financial regulations?
     * What role should the Federal Reserve play in combating the climate
       crisis?
     * With Black and brown communities still suffering the most from the
pandemic and with rising Black unemployment – all in the midst of a
climate crisis – how will the Federal Reserve prioritize BIPOC
communities in a long term recovery plan?
     * The Federal Reserve bailed out failing fossil fuel companies – the
very companies fueling the climate crisis – during the pandemic to the
tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. Under your leadership, will
the Federal Reserve commit to halting investments in fossil fuels?
We know it will take a huge amount of pressure to win, which is why we’ve
organized rallies, collected thousands of signatures, coordinated banner
   drops, and more.
We need to be generating pressure on all fronts. When their offices see
hundreds of messages in one day, it will send a strong and loud signal
that we are organized and coordinated across the country.
Together, we can ensure that our senators are bringing hard-hitting
climate questions to Powell during the vetting process and putting more
pressure on the Federal Reserve to take climate risk seriously. [ [link removed] ]Please
send a message to Sen. Pat Toomey today.
