The Washington Post: “Senate will vote by Jan. 17 on changing [filibuster] rules if GOP continues to block voting rights legislation”

Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy. If we lose that, nothing else matters. That’s why we must do whatever it takes to protect them.

But we want to know where you stand: Should we create a carve-out in the filibuster to pass voting rights legislation and protect our democracy?

[Unknown], desperate times call for desperate measures.

First: Sen. John Kennedy voted to overturn the 2020 election results without a shred of evidence, even after a violent mob stormed the Capital.

Then: Republican state legislatures in 19 states passed voter suppression bills across the nation, and Kennedy hasn’t done anything but defend these egregious laws in Congress.

Now: Democrats are trying to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, but self-serving politicians like Kennedy are standing in the way of protecting our democracy!

That’s because Kennedy is more concerned with putting party over country.

But we can’t let him get in the way of protecting our freedom to vote.

It’s simple: we can create a carve-out in the filibuster to preserve the future of our democracy — or risk watching millions of voters lose their voting rights for decades to come. It’s now or never, and Luke is asking you to take a stand now:

Answer before midnight: Should we create a carve-out in the filibuster to pass voting rights legislation and protect our democracy?
