Friend,

Today, January 6th is a somber day for me. On January 3rd, I was sworn in; on January 5th, we won the two Senate seats in Georgia, and on January 6th, the day I was headed to the floor to defend Georgia’s election on the floor of the House, we faced an insurrection incited by former President Trump who would never let democracy or the well-being of this country stand in the way of his vanity.

Late that evening, I walked through the eerie, empty halls, past the police tape and broken windows to go to the floor to vote to certify the election of Joe Biden as the President of the United States. It was a somber moment, but also one where I felt a very clear sense of purpose because we all played an important role in being able to hold our country together in that moment: with your help, I flipped the 7th district of Georgia - the only Democratic pick up in the country - which meant that Democrats held the House majority by a narrow margin. And because of the work we had done in the 7th, we had just won two Senate seats.

And this fragile victory has allowed us to hold the country together during the insurrection and in the year after.

Now once again we are called to the fight. In Georgia, instead of backing away from the violence and lies, the Republican party is explicitly doubling down. I’ve stood in front of people in my community who believe, without question, the “Big Lie” — that their vote was stolen — despite three full recounts of Georgia’s ballots and numerous investigations and audits of the election that all turned up nothing. They have been fed lie after lie.

Republicans in Georgia are running candidates for Secretary of State and for Governor who deny the results of the election and are positioning themselves to overturn the results of free and fair elections in the years to come.

Let me be clear, Friend, that the movement that caused January 6th is still in full swing and people in Georgia are on the front lines of their dangerous misinformation campaign. Georgia gave America President Biden and a narrow but important governing majority.

Now we must hold the line again in 2022. Will you join me in this fight?

I need 500 supporters to sign on and hold Trump and the Republicans who encouraged the insurrection accountable. Add your name >>> [link removed]
