Dear Ward 8 Residents:

New year, fresh snow, fresh beginnings.

The winter snowstorm is one way to kick off the New Year! My team and I mobilized with dozens of volunteers to clear pathways and sidewalks for our senior residents. We appreciate ServeDC for equipping our volunteers with much-needed shovels to help dig out our residents.

I encourage all residents to follow my social media accounts for a way to receive essential updates in real-time, especially during times of inclement weather and the changes that come with that.

As we move into the new year, we remain focused on our mission to make Ward 8 and the District of Columbia a great and equitable place for all residents.

Happy New Year, Ward 8! Let's make this year a great one.

Councilmember Trayon White urges Mayor Muriel Bowser to address concerns related to students return to school amid the rise in COVID-19 cases.

“We are sending our children into a burning house by forcing them to return to in-person learning only days after the holiday season. Measures requiring that students report back to campus with a negative test do not ensure safety. A virtual learning option must be made available for students who do not wish to return to campus.” -- Trayon White

Residents are encouraged to join the Ward 8 Redistricting Committee zoom meeting on January 19, 2022 at 6:00pm to learn more about our plan for new boundaries.

These meetings are governed by the Open Meetings Act. All meetings will be held virtually on Facebook live or other relative platforms for public comment until further notice.

"It is with great excitement that I accept my new role as the Communications Director for the Office of Councilmember Trayon White, Sr.

As a Ward 8 resident myself, I understand how important it is to receive timely and well-understood updates on what is happening in our community.

I look forward to serving you and can't wait to hear from you."

"I am deeply honored to serve as a Legal Fellow in the Legislative Division of the Office of Councilmember Trayon White, Sr.

My professional background is in fair housing, fair banking, and disability discrimination, and I am excited to bring that experience to Ward 8. I am here to listen and learn about your concerns and, with the stellar team the Councilmember has assembled, to create legislation that impacts and improves the lives of Ward 8 residents every day.

Serving Ward 8 is a responsibility I do not take lightly and I hope that I can make you proud. I look forward to working for you and seeing you out in the community!"
