Dear John,

The results are in: I have the honor of serving as Portland's next mayor.

Thank you for everything you have done for this campaign. Your door-knocking, phone-calling, sign-planting, donations, time, expertise, and your votes were what made this victory possible.

Today Portland knows that we can run — and win — with a message of collaboration and inclusivity. I will be serving the City of Portland for the next four years. This role, and its unique honor, is in service to the city that I call home.

Now the real work of addressing our biggest problems, from housing to homelessness and education funding, begins. The great potential we have today is in working together in service to our city. I extend my hand to you, and to everyone in this city, to engage, offer your perspective, your voice, and your expertise. Creating lasting solutions truly needs all of our work and engagement.

I plan to transition into using official channels for communication going forward, which means putting campaign social media pages into "hibernation." I want to make sure you all know my intention for transitioning from campaign to official role. I look forward to engaging with the residents of Portland as your next mayor.
