On this exact day last year, January 2nd, 2021, thirteen U.S. senators, including Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley, along with 100 Republican members of the House, vowed to object to the election certification.

From here, it would only be a matter of five days before the Capitol was attacked in a coup to overturn the presidential election results by people who felt emboldened by the treasonous actions of their elected officials.

One could say that January 2nd marks the birth of the Treason Caucus and the beginning of a very long fight.

2021 brought us the long awaited inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, but it also brought us a cause to take up and fight for: protecting our democracy and ensuring this never happens again.

Donald Trump has gleefully announced that he will be holding a press conference in Mar-a-Lago to commemorate January 6th. We can't let January 6th become a point of pride and we must remember January 6th as the day our democracy was almost destroyed by fascism and ignorance.
