Dear John,

<[link removed]>

Nur was an accountant in Ethiopia for ten years, but when she arrived in the US, she needed to stay home with her children. She became out of touch with her accounting skills, and she had had no opportunity to practice her English. Then, she found Training Futures, NVFS’ signature workforce development program.

"My eyes were opened by Training Futures. The staff gave me a bright light to see a good future. There was so much encouragement, and it made me strong."

In Training Futures, Nur learned many new office skills , from Microsoft Office Suite to teamwork and time management, but she knows that her transformation from someone totally unsure of her abilities to someone confident in her skills was her biggest achievement. She learned to value her strengths. Nur had been particularly unhappy with her English, but she learned to appreciate the fact that she is now improving every day.

She is also so grateful that Janice, a NVFS staff member, recommended her for a scholarship provided by FlexProfessionals to Merrimack College’s Accounting for Small Business Certificate Program. Nur has just earned her certificate and is now beginning to apply for jobs where she can use her experience as an accountant as well as all the other new skills she acquired through NVFS. And, most importantly, she can now present herself with confidence.

John, by making your first gift today, you will help another like Nur succeed in our community. <[link removed]>
