Hi John,

My name is Madiha Raza, and I'm the IRC's senior communications officer for Yemen and several other crisis areas. I sent you an email last month about the situation in Yemen. I have to write again today because the situation continues to be dire.

It's incredibly important that our most engaged supporters — like you — understand how deeply troubling the situation on the ground in Yemen is today. And, more importantly, how you can help, in Yemen and crisis zones around the world.
 
 
 
 
The situation in Yemen is bleak. After more than six years of violent conflict, more than 1 in 10 Yemenis have been displaced from their homes. On top of that, food prices have skyrocketed and the medical care system is barely functioning.

As too often happens, children are bearing the brunt of this crisis. The rate of child malnutrition across Yemen is staggering.

2.3 million children under five years old are suffering from acute malnutrition — some of the highest rates we've seen since the start of the conflict — and 400,000 children could die without immediate intervention.

Despite this dire situation, the world has turned its back on Yemen. But I know you won't, John.
