John,

Two weeks ago, Eden & myself went down to South Dallas to help our endorsed candidate Jessica Mason (TX-30) produce her campaign ad.

There are congressional candidates who can afford the cost of producing a campaign ad, which typically ranges between $25,000 and $50,000. From hiring a team of writers, to flying in videographers, to paying for hotel rooms and food for the crew, to the cost of editing the ad. That is how much a 2-and-a-half minute commercial costs in this industry.

For candidates like Jessica, this is just another barrier they have to overcome for their campaigns to flourish.

These ads are crucial to a campaign win. They run on TV and online, and they’re a critical tool for communicating a candidate’s message to donors and voters. These videos are essential.

For Jessica, a $30,000 video is out of reach.

So we put our scrappy minds to work and found a way to produce a $30K video for $2,000 — because that’s just what twenty-something-year-olds can do. We’re resourceful and meticulous, and we don’t shy away from challenges.

How did we do it? This is actually so cool… We flew a young up-and-coming videographer to Dallas to spend two days shooting. With guidance from friends in the industry, her campaign manager wrote a ridiculously heart-felt script. Eden came to make sure everything stayed organized and ran smoothly since she’s been on set for multiple campaign shoots. Lastly, I came to help shoot still photos for our mail pieces that will go out in the spring, and to oversee the production.

Through this PAC, we were able to cut costs and still produce an amazing ad that didn’t bankrupt Jessica’s campaign. (We can’t wait to show it to you!!)

It was because of all of your donations that we could afford to pull this off. And now, Jessica has a real shot of raising serious money, can get her message out to voters, and ultimately, win this race.

It was the momentum Jessica needed going into 2022.

Progressive, working-class candidates should not have to go without crucial campaign materials just because they can’t afford it— and that’s what is happening currently way too often.

Barrier To Entry PAC is committed to changing that narrative, even if we have to do it ourselves. We’re tired of passionate candidates turning down the opportunity to run for office just because the crippling costs outweigh the benefits. Who would this leave to run? The people who are already near levers of power.

With your help, we can continue to uplift our candidates and provide them with the essential tools they need to win. We know the holidays are almost over, but would you pitch in today and give candidates the gift of a campaign video before the end of the year?
