Hey John,

You’re probably receiving a lot of fundraising emails right now as we approach the end of the year. However, today I wanted to pause our normal programming and reach out about an issue close to my heart.

As mayor of Kansas City, I operate under the belief that a government’s values are best reflected by how it treats its most vulnerable residents.

That’s why I’m proud to share that Kansas City made tremendous progress this year in improving resources for those experiencing houselessness.

This year, we increased our support services, purchased two hotels and turned them into transitional residences for folks experiencing houselessness, expanded standards for admissions to our shelters, and more.

This progress is especially meaningful as we enter the coldest months of the year. These are, without a doubt, life-saving changes.

I am damn proud that this is a city that cares.
