John,

With pediatric COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations steadily rising, it's incredibly important that eligible kids get vaccinated.

But we know that many parents and caretakers have questions, on everything from side effects to allergies to dosage amounts.

We had a chance to speak with Dr. Kawsar Talaat, an associate professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (and a parent), and asked her some of the most pressing questions about vaccines and kids. Click on the image to watch the full video, or on a specific question to jump right to Dr. Talaat's answer:

10 Questions on Vaccines and Kids

Why should kids get the COVID-19 vaccine? Is the COVID-19 vaccine safe for children?
Are your kids vaccinated? Is the vaccine dose the same for children as adults?
If my child turns 12 soon, should she wait and get the adult dose? Should a child who has had COVID-19 before get vaccinated?
Can a child get the COVID-19 and flu vaccine at the same time? Should a child with food or medication allergies skip the vaccine?
Should we plan on missing school to recover from potential side effects? How can we reassure parents wary of vaccinating their children?

If you or someone you know has questions about kids and the COVID-19 vaccines, rest assured that you're not the only ones.

That's why we wanted to hear from someone who is an expert -- and a parent -- about kids and the COVID-19 vaccines.
