I’m going to say something that no politician ever will: The answer to our nation’s problems isn’t politics. It’s affecting change in the hearts of people. That takes leaders of principle who won’t put their finger in the wind of politics to make decisions, but will adhere to principle, even when it’s not popular.
As Secretary of State in the Trump Administration, I was determined to demonstrate how my faith and our Judeo-Christian founding could improve our world. Shining our light and evangelizing are biblical requirements, not challenges to the so-called separation of church and state.
Leaders are in people-intensive lines of work. They appeal to hearts and minds to change behavior. And as believers, we draw on the wisdom of God to help us get it right…to be a force for good in the lives of human beings.
I know some people in the media will break out the pitchforks when they hear that I ask God for direction in my work. But that isn’t a new idea. I really relied on God when I was a fifth-grade Sunday school teacher, and my job was to keep the boys in their seats. It was the best preparation for international diplomacy you can imagine!
I say all this because our nation is truly at a crossroads. It is up to people like you and me to lead in championing American values. If we’re going to win this battle, we need you to step up, stay in the fight and defend the America we love. If we don’t, we’re going to lose it.
So, I’m personally asking you to renew your commitment to putting America and our values first—because when we put America and Americans first, we prosper and the whole world prospers. When America leads from the front and not from behind, we are a better nation.
I believe America has a bright future. Why?
Because of the promise in Jeremiah that God has a plan for us; a plan that will prosper and not harm us. A plan for hope and a future if we will follow Him.
That is why I believe in America—I believe we are a good and great nation.
Not a defeated nation.
Not a racist nation.
We are a God Blessed nation—and I want to keep it that way.
