Today, on the 4th of July, we come together -- with our friends, families, and neighbors -- to celebrate our nations founding some 243 years ago.

We've been faced with much adversity and challenge throughout our history but we've never allowed it to define us. Brave men and women fought selflessly to guarantee us the freedoms, rights, and privileges that we enjoy.

It is because of their sacrifice and irrevocable love of country that we are able to live freely, with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness guiding us forward.

I am forever grateful for these men and women -- and work daily -- to emulate their patriotism, dedication, and fierce commitment to protecting our constitutional rights.

Today, and everyday, I am proud to be an American. I am proud to be a Congressman. And I will certainly be proud to be your President.
