Remember in 2012, when Missouri Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin said in an interview that women rarely got pregnant from “legitimate rape”?

That year, his extreme views sank his chances, and Democrat Claire McCaskill went from being the country’s most vulnerable Democrat to defeating Akin by 16 points.

We might be seeing something similar happen in 2022. Donald Trump is endorsing loyalists who deny that Joe Biden is our legitimate president, and that might be enough to help them win their primaries.

But most Americans find those views too extreme, giving Democrats a real chance to defeat these Republicans in the general election.

We know it will be challenging for Democrats to hold the House next year, but I have reason to believe that with your support, we can defy the odds and keep the House blue.
