South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham has had an amazing transformation from Trump critic to Trump sycophant, and nowhere is that more apparent than his ardent and toxic defense of Trump in the face of impeachment. He pushed a resolution in the Senate condemning the House’s impeachment inquiry, called the House impeachment rules vote “Very sad and unnecessary,” and now, he’s comparing the entire process to the death penalty.
And he hasn’t stopped there -- in the Senate, Graham has used his sway with Mitch McConnell to block progressive bills from the House that would help people. He has fought against campaign finance reform and the Affordable Care Act and even defended Trump’s trade war with China as his own constituents face layoffs.
Lindsey Graham’s re-election campaign is flush with cash from large-money donors and corporate PACs as they prepare to not only defend his seat but also defend the GOP Senate majority that allows Graham and co-conspirator Mitch McConnell to hold the country hostage.
