I want to take a moment to tell you about my friend Val Demings, who is running for U.S. Senate against Marco Rubio in Florida. In just a moment I’m going to ask you to split a contribution to our campaigns to help flip Florida blue and defend our Senate majority, but first, let me explain why your support for Val is so crucial — especially today, and how it could make the difference in this election.

Val is tough as nails, a fighter for all Floridians, and has proved her mettle time and again in Congress — from impeaching Donald Trump to prosecuting his trial in the Senate. Now, she’s running a winnable race to build our Democratic majority, and keep Mitch McConnell from getting anywhere near the Senate gavel.

Florida’s last Senate race was decided by just 0.12 points — 10,033 votes to be exact. CNN is again calling Florida’s Senate seat one of the most likely to flip in 2022.

Electing Val — the daughter of two working class parents, the first in her family to graduate from college, and the first woman to lead the Orlando Police Department — would send a powerful message nationwide and make history as Florida would send its first Black — and first Black woman — senator to Washington.

This is a winnable race, but Republicans have already poured over $10 million into Rubio’s campaign. It’s going to take a lot of resources to ensure Val’s campaign can make the calls, knock on doors, and communicate with voters across the state.

With our end-of-year FEC deadline around the corner, I’m humbly asking: Will you split a $10 contribution between Val Demings’ campaign for Florida’s U.S. Senate seat and our campaign?
