Friend, this morning, Reed told it like it is. Just like we always
do.
We haven’t heard from you in a while. You know our work is far from
done – one look at the front page of any news outlet would tell you
that Trump is far from gone, and his cronies – some of them smarter
and even more dangerous – are jockeying to inherit the throne to Trump
country.
So we need to know. Are
you still with us, Friend? Do you want to continue to receive updates
like Reed’s?
Or if you’re still a part of our team but want to receive only the
most important email updates, let
us know here.
We hope you’re with us,
The Lincoln Project

Friend,
It’s that time of year where the
powers that be in Washington start adding up their
scorecards.
This week, multiple headline
Democratic agenda items are on the docket. Raising the debt ceiling.
Check. Holding Mark Meadows in contempt (as part of the larger Jan. 6
accountability agenda). Check. Build Back Better? TBD.
Republicans are sticking to the
same talking points. Inflation. Higher energy prices. Shipping delays
and wars on Christmas. All out of Biden’s control…but that won’t stop
the GOP from blaming him.
As long as we let the
point-counting continue, we let the GOP win. If we let them equate –
and cancel out – historic victories for American communities and
accountability for insurrectionists with “critical race theory” and a
gross misunderstanding of global oil markets, we lose.
One of our biggest tasks for 2022
is to stop this bogus narrative in its tracks.
Any smart military leader will tell
you that defining the battlefield is crucial to victory. It’s up to
our side to tell the story of what IS getting done.
Job creation is UP, bigger than the
early reports showed. Biden’s plan to fix the slowdown at our ports is
working.
Democrats led the passage of a
trillion-dollar infrastructure passage that took less than 10 months
of Biden’s presidency to get over the line. Trump couldn’t do it in
four full years. But if you’re reading this, that should come as no
surprise.
So why, after the infrastructure
bill passed, were all the Republicans who tried to kill it first in
line to claim credit? Where was the immediate coordinated victory lap
touting its success?
It should not be this hard for
Democrats to take credit for the good things they have done and call
out Republicans from lying about voting against it. This is once again
the result of believing both sides are playing by the same
rules.
As Rick so often states – We are
increasingly worried that the establishment in Washington is never
going to get it and they are going to let the MAGA party waltz all
over them next year. If you’re as worried about it as we are, you know
what to do. Help
us tell it like it is to the people who need to hear
it.
This year’s fights aren’t over. BBB
is still out there. But if the Democrats continue to bicker in public
about however many trillions it will cost, they’re playing into the
GOP’s game. And it will be too late for it to matter next year, when
it should.
What does that mean? Say hello to
Speaker Jim Jordan, or, if you believe Matt Gaetz, Speaker
Trump.
They are the ultimate trolls
now.
Democrats – and everyone who cares
about the survival of our democracy – have one of two
choices:
- Define
the battlefield. Tell the story our way. Take credit for the largest
investment in America since the Depression. Show how real American
families benefit. And call the Trump mob out for trying to torpedo it
then claiming credit for it after it passes.
- Feed the
trolls. Get dragged into CRT war after CRT war. Keep fighting in
public about numbers no one understands. And come November, lose
big.
You
know which one we pick. Are you with us?
-Reed
