Do you know what today is, John? Today is the National Bill of Rights Day!

On this day 226 years ago, the framers of the Constitution ratified a document to codify the rights of the American people into a series of ten amendments. This timeless document would go on to form a major part of the Constitution, and it's recognized worldwide as a tenet of the modern democracies in protecting the rights of citizens and upholding government as we know it today.

These freedoms in the Bill of Rights -- along with the following amendments – are what allowed the American people to elect a president on November 8th, 2020, that represented their values and who would work to erase the backwards errors of the last administration.

But what we didn't see is people -- including Republican members of Congress -- organizing behind closed doors and planning to stage a coup at the nation's Capitol on the day of the presidential inauguration. This insurrection in the name of the Big Lie was a clear attempt to destabilize our democracy and a direct attack on the principles outlined in our Constitution.
