Hey there --

Facebook’s had one heck of a year. Watch our new video that captures some of the company’s biggest failures from 2021 including:

  • Facebook kicked off 2021 by allowing extremists to use their platform to coordinate the deadly Capitol insurrection. After initially denying any involvement, Facebook ultimately admitted that their platform was used to incite the insurrection.

  • Facebook suspended Donald Trump after the insurrection, but a few months later allowed Trump’s PAC to resume running political advertisements. Since June, Facebook has raked in between $841,000 and $1.5 million from Trump’s ads alone.

  • Facebook said they would let independent researchers study misinformation on the platform. But then they blocked independent researchers from the platform altogether.

  • Facebook hid internal research on Instagram’s harms to kids and teens from users, parents, and elected officials. These documents were eventually brought to light by the Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen.

At the end of each year, Facebook rolls out a “Year in Review'' feature for users that shows the highlights from their past year. So, we made a version for Facebook. Share our brand new video chronicling all the harms and lies from Facebook over this past year:

As we close out 2021, we want to say thanks again for all your support. Appreciate you being a part of our movement to hold Big Tech accountable.

Thanks,
