** Vicky Ford General Election InTouch: November 2019
Dear Follower,

As you know, a General Election has now been called. Parliament will dissolve on Wednesday and the election will start properly on Thursday. At that time I will cease to be Chelmsford’s MP. I can and will continue to help residents with urgent case work during the election period.

I am as frustrated as everyone else that Parliament has been going around in circles. There is a stalemate that has to be broken. This is why we need a General Election.

The EU referendum was the largest democratic vote in UK history. In 2016 I voted Remain but I respect the referendum result. I have worked tirelessly in Parliament to get Brexit done. If other MPs had also respected the referendum, Brexit would already be done.

Other parties' plans for a second referendum mean more delay and more division in our country. We can’t wind back the clock to the relationship we had before. Boris Johnson has now agreed a deal with the EU. We should approve it and move on.

Whilst Brexit dominates our headlines, my focus has also always been on Chelmsford. It has been a huge honour to have represented you for nearly two and a half years.

We now have more police on our streets with 368 more officers in Essex. Our new medical school is training doctors of the future and improved services at Broomfield Hospital bring shorter waiting times and better treatments. Chelmsford's second railway station is now finally on track having been awarded the largest housing related infrastructure grant in the country.

During my time as Chelmsford’s MP I have helped many thousands of residents with individual cases, replying to over 12,000 emails last year alone. I have met tens of thousands of Chelmsford residents and supported a large number of local organisations.

I have campaigned for fairer funding for Essex schools, which a Conservative Government is now committed to deliver. We are working urgently on delivering a long term solution to the Army and Navy. I have championed world leading environmental protections which are now set in UK law. The Environment Bill, which had its second reading in Parliament last week, is a landmark piece of legislation that will protect our planet for generations ahead. There is so much important work still to do.

After this election we will either get Corbyn’s hard left Government with huge tax rises that damage our economy, or a Conservative Government with a strong economy to invest in public services. A vote for any other party risks Corbyn in Number 10. It is not worth the risk.

This election is going to need a huge amount of effort. If you would like to help by delivering leaflets, displaying a poster, on polling day itself or in any other way please do let me know.

Please do stay in touch, during the election.I can be contacted at [email protected]
P.S. Today we will be electing a new speaker. I am supporting The Rt. Hon. Dame Eleanor Laing MP.
