Team, While all eyes have been on the news here at home this weekend, in the aftermath of those terrible storms in Kentucky and surrounding states, Russia has kept on rattling its saber at Ukraine, all but DARING us to go to war. President Biden has made it absolutely clear that we will make Russia pay if they attack Ukraine, starting with economic sanctions ... but he hasn't ruled out sending troops to help our NATO allies in the region, whose protection he called "a sacred duty" during his press conference yesterday. This is why the American people elected President Biden as our commander in chief. The President is facing what is likely the most difficult military decision of his Presidency. This is not Iraq, North Korea, or even Iran, this is the Russian military, the third most powerful military in the world. Now, with the US leading by a lot, and with China coming in at a distant 2nd, I have said this many times before: The US military is the most dominant military in the history of mankind, There is nothing our men and women who serve can't accomplish, and no force we cannot defeat. But it's not impossible that we might suffer catastrophic repercussions from engaging Russia, maybe even including attacks on our homeland -- something we have not experienced since Pearl Harbor. (9/11 was a terrorist attack, but a foreign military attacking us at home? It's been been 80 years since that happened, and I hope it never happens again.) I am confident that President Biden will find a way to stand up to Putin without getting our military in a pissing contest with the Russians. Something everybody should know about Vladimir Putin: He is a small, vain man, who needs to overcompensate for the fact that he has to control his people with fear because he has no leadership skills at all. So he styles himself as a modern day Genghis Khan, the dreaded leader of the Mongol Dynasty. President Biden is the exact opposite; he leads us with empathy, his greatest strength as a leader. Our men and women choose to serve because we love our country, the Russian forces do so out of fear and by force. Where are we today, and what are President Biden's next steps? I guarantee you one thing, President Biden is listening to advice from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and he is weighing our next moves very carefully. But that's not the only advice the President is seeking right now, he is probably surrounded himself with economic, diplomatic, and cyber security experts. There are so many ways we can retaliate that do not involve troops on the ground. To our Ukrainian allies, we will not abandon you, but we will also not rush to war with Russia either. The Ukrainian people need to speak up with force loud enough for Putin to hear, Russia is not welcome in the Ukraine and if they invade, it is the Ukrainian force that needs to be ready to do what is necessary to defend their homeland. We will do our part to help you, but it must be you that takes the lead. Ultimately I don't think it will come to you. Putin is not suicidal and I hope cooler heads prevail. Sappers clear the way, Airborne all the way. Richard
