Vaccine mandates get people vaccinated.

So with Omicron emerging, winter forcing people inside and holiday gatherings around the corner, I announced a new, first-in-the-nation vaccine mandate that will keep New Yorkers and their communities safe.

The mandate covers all private-sector workers, and requires children 5-11 to show proof of one vaccination dose for indoor dining, fitness and performance venues.

It will save lives.

And my message to every mayor, governor, and CEO: it’s time for vaccine mandates in places other than just NYC.

Do they take guts? Yes. Will you get some blowback? Yes.

But will they save lives and get us closer to the end of this COVID pandemic? Yes. Yes, they will.
